NZGS/IAG Conference, Auckland 2018

Joint NZGS / IAG Conference 2018

'Creative Conversations, Constructive Connections'

11-14 July 2018, University of Auckland

Draft Academic Session Programme

The School of Environment at the University of Auckland will be hosting the biennial, joint conference of the New Zealand Geographical Society and the Institute of Australian Geographers from 11-14 July, 2018 at the University of Auckland. The theme of the conference is ‘Creative conversations, constructive connections’.

The 2018 NZGS/IAG meeting will celebrate a coming-together of discipline, present a moment to reflect upon research directions, and set agendas for geographic research. The conference theme is a rallying call for setting connected agendas.  It challenges geographers to reinvigorate intra-disciplinary dialogue. We call for sessions and papers that outline the latest research across the discipline in Australia and New Zealand; and we have devised a programme that will facilitate creative conversations and showcase Geography.

The conference will commence with pre-conference meetings of speciality groups on Wednesday 11 July, coming together for a formal welcome and opening plenary later that day.  Conference sessions will run from 12-14 July inclusive.

Equity and diversity statement

The 2018 conference strives to be inclusive and equitable at all stages. We endeavour to be accessible, diverse and achieve gender balance on the organising committee, session chairs as well as invited speakers and selection of contributed abstracts. We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We will provide regular updates as to how we will accomplish this.
